The Bright Morning Star Prisons and Homelessness Outreach was founded with a deep conviction to serve the most vulnerable members of society. Our journey began with a simple act of compassion, which quickly grew into a comprehensive ministry addressing the multifaceted needs of prisoners and those experiencing homelessness.
Our mission is to bring hope, healing, and practical support, guiding individuals towards rehabilitation, self-sufficiency, and spiritual growth. We believe in the transformative power of faith and community in addressing the challenges faced by prisoners and those without homes.

Act as a resource for people from age 17 living in London by providing information, advice, organizing educational programmes that help advance lives and enable participation as independent, mature individuals.

A world where no person is defined by their past, their poverty, or their circumstances where every individual, regardless of their background, has access to hope, dignity, and the support they need to flourish.
Compassion: We lead with empathy, meeting every person with warmth and unconditional care.
Empowerment: We invest in people, equipping them with skills for independent, sustainable lives.
Integrity: We operate with full transparency, accountability, and honest governance.
Dignity: Every person we serve is treated with respect, regardless of their history.
Community: We build genuine relationships because no one thrives in isolation.
Faith: Rooted in the belief that lives can change hope is never lost.
The Bright Morning Star (BMS) is a registered UK non-profit (Company No. 9954660) founded in 2015 and based in Brixton, London. We serve vulnerable populations including people experiencing homelessness, prisoners, ex-offenders, and young people up to age 17Â through practical support, spiritual care, and empowerment programmes across London and Nigeria.
We offer a wide range of services including food distributions, emergency accommodation and housing advice, one-to-one counselling and mental health support, IT and digital literacy training, craft and skills workshops, fitness classes, prison outreach visits, and reintegration support for ex-offenders. Our programmes are designed to address both immediate needs and long-term transformation.
You can reach us by calling +44 7946 288144 or emailing info@thebrightmorningministries.com. Our base is at the Ground Floor, Chartham Court Community Hall, Canterbury Crescent, Brixton, London SW9 7PT. Many of our programmes such as the weekly food distribution and monthly healthy eating courses are free and open to all community members in need.
We welcome volunteers, donors, and partner organisations. You can volunteer your time (like Simon, who now coordinates weekly outreach reaching 100+ people), make a financial donation via our website, or partner with us as an organisation. Every contribution, big or small; directly supports vulnerable people in London and beyond.
Yes! We have a sister organisation in Nigeria -Â The Homeless and Prisoners Support Foundation (THPSF) which extends our mission across two continents. In 2025, we completed a successful outreach mission to prisons across 4 states in Nigeria, reflecting our commitment to global compassion and community transformation.
Hear from the people whose lives have been touched and transformed through the work of The Bright Morning Star Prisons & Homelessness Outreach
"Receiving a visit from BMS while I was inside meant more than I can put into words. I felt forgotten by the world, but they reminded me my life still had value and helped me plan for release before I even walked out the gate."
"I had never used a computer properly. Through BMS's IT training, I gained real digital skills; email, job applications, online services. Those skills opened doors that had always been closed to me. I now have a part-time job."
"I came to BMS feeling broken and without purpose. The craft workshops gave me my confidence back. I made real friendships, learned real skills, and now I mentor others. I never expected a beading class to change my life; but it did."
"There were weeks I didn't know how my children and I would eat. BMS was the difference between going hungry and having a meal on the table. But more than the food, it was the way they treated us with respect, like we mattered."
